What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Park Ranger Aide position at Boone County, IA?
Summary
Duties involve management of county parks under the general supervision of the Director and direct supervision of the Park Rangers and Operations Manager. Duties include: park patrolling, public relations, light construction, park maintenance, mowing, natural resource management, environmental education, supervision of volunteers, collection of fees, and other duties as required. Three days will be park maintenance and natural resource work, the other two days will be focused on patrolling. Job duties require a considerable amount of physical activity, including walking, standing, kneeling, crouching, reaching, stooping, and climbing. Employees must have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and possess the coordination and manual dexterity to handle tools and equipment involved in maintenance, construction, and repair tasks.
Locations: Boone County, Iowa. The Ranger Aide will mainly be stationed at Swede Point Park near Madrid, but may be required to report to Don Williams Recreation Area near Ogden. The Ranger Aid will mostly work at Swede Point Park, Grant’s Woods and the High Trestle Trail, but may be required to work at any other BCCB managed property.

Essential Functions
Non-standard 40-hour workweek that will include holidays, evenings and weekends. Employees will typically work Tuesday through Saturday. Three of those days will be park maintenance and natural resource work. The other two days will be focused on patrolling.
Essential Knowledge, Experience, and Ability
Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record. Preferably attending or planning to attend college in the conservation / natural resource field or criminal justice. Experience with public relations, equipment operation and hand tools preferred.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
