Overview
Job Summary:
The OR Supply Manager is responsible for developing, administering, and supervising a coordinated supply support system that operates efficiently and meets the needs of the health system. The manager also leads, implements, measures, and directs supply chain activities within the operating room/surgical services. OR operations are supported through inventory management, ensuring all necessary supplies are available to support patient care while controlling cost and minimizing waste.
Job Responsibilities:
- Hiring, staffing, scheduling, and training of OR distribution departments
- Oversee the daily workflow and schedules of the department
- Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive
- Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy
- Ensure supplies are delivered in a timely fashion and inspected and delivered for replenishment on schedule
- Ensure inventory is accurately and responsibly managed and cycle counting is being done according to standard
- Monitor unit level stocking activities, maintain a cost effective and clinically necessary level of materials, and ensure urgent clinical requests expedited
- Provide administrative responsibility for inventory management system additions and deletions and maintenance of adequate inventory levels
- Oversee physical inventory, utilize inventory management systems to evaluate reports, and make management decisions for adjusting stock levels
- Collaborate regularly with the facility Director of Surgical Services, Surgical Services leadership team, the facility Director of Supply Chain and Logistics leadership team to identify and maintain resources needed to establish and provide an effective supply chain
- Develops policies to increase efficiency throughout the supply chain while ensuring quality and safety; implements subsequent changes to processes
- Monitors the performance of suppliers, assessing their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements; identifies and qualifies new suppliers
- Serve as the 24-hour OR point of contact for supply needs.
- Work with OR key stake holders on all OR supply cost management projects
- Oversee the tissue tracking system and process as well as vendor certification, recalls and quarterly inventory verification
- Oversee the inventory management system for RFID items
- Oversee process for managing expirations for all supplies in the OR
- Responsible for daily Supply Chain Clinical Integration within the OR to include ordering and restocking for all operating room supplies
- Responsible for optimization of replenishment processes for all OR inventory areas that are managed by Supply Chain
- Ensure items built in the materials management information systems are accurate and complete
- Collaborates with Procurement to ensure supplies arrive in a cost effective, timely manner
- Performs Other Responsibilities as Assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Degree: High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience: 3-5 years in OR Supply
- Supervisor Experience: 3 years
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree: Bachelor’s
- Experience: 5-10 years in OR Supply
- Supervisor Experience: 5 years
