Overview
Job Summary:
The manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the cleaning, sterilization and distribution of medical instruments and equipment within a healthcare setting. This includes managing a team of technicians, implementing quality control measures, and ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines.
Job Description:
- Management of the Sterile Processing Department which involves daily operations, budgeting, staffing and ensuring workflow that supports patient care.
- Responsible for hiring, training, and evaluating sterile processing technicians
- Creates and maintains policies and procedures that adhere to regulatory standards related to Sterile Processing
- Manages inventory of supplies, equipment, and instruments for Sterile Processing
- Communicate effectively with other departments, staff, providers, and leadership to ensure smooth operations and workflow efficiency.
- Identifies and implements opportunities for improvement in Sterile Processing Operations
- Maintains accurate records for sterilization and equipment testing
- Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budget
- Serves as a 24-hour point of contact for Sterile Processing
- Collaborates regularly with Director of Surgical Services
- Performs other duty as assigned to support workflow and patient care
- Boone Health has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in an essential function of this job.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Degrees: High School Diploma or GED
- Experience: 2-5 years
- Supervisor Experience: Preferred
- Certification: Obtain CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) within six months.
