What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hydro-Electric Maintenance Technician position at Boralex?
⚡ You will play an important role in:
The Hydro-electric Maintenance Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of hydroelectric generator systems and related equipment including PLCs.
Practice safe work habits and follow correct safety policies and procedures;
Ensure that company personnel, contractors, and consultants are following company approved safety policies, procedures, and that company property is protected by performing the applicable duties;
Perform station and unit operations as required;
Identify and repair as necessary, station hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems including analytical problem solving / troubleshooting;
Be adaptable to learning solar operations and maintenance as Boralex adds to it’s portfolio;
Be available, as necessary, for after hour “call- ins”, including working in an on-call rotation for 1 week as scheduled.
💡 To succeed in this position, you need:
Two or four year degree in E.E. or E.E.T. or related field (or equivalent experience);
Experience with repair and maintenance of hydro turbine/generator systems and related equipment is preferred as follows: Electrical, Mechanical, Hydraulics, PLC troubleshooting and programming;
High voltage transmission and distribution training and experience;
Working knowledge of the OSHA, NEC, NFPA 70E and Arc Flash requirements;
Ability to read and understand electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic drawings and schematics;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required;
Flexibility to add skills and work in a multi-disciplinary environment;
Be able and willing to perform physical labor as needed;
Knowledge of windows based software including Outlook, Excel, Word and SAP;
Valid driver’s license with clean record required;
Periodic overnight/out of town travel.
