What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Coordinator position at Bordelon Marine?
Provide general support and assistance to the HSE department and Shipyard Project Manager by performing routine clerical and administrative functions such as drafting correspondence, scheduling appointments, or organizing and maintaining paper and electronic files.
Requirements
- Complete daily walkthroughs for the Shipyard and Vessels that have shipyard projects.
- Daily atmospheric testing on tanks and document data for record keeping and permit approvals.
- Participate in daily toolbox / safety meetings at the start of each day.
- Help facilitate and store JSA and permits for Shipyard use daily.
- Use computers for various applications, such as database management or word processing.
- Identify hazards, mitigate risks, and suggest resources to reduce exposure.
- Set up and manage paper or electronic filing systems, recording information, updating paperwork, or maintaining documents, correspondence, or other material.
- Compiles information for insurance and permits upon request.
- Complete forms in accordance with company procedures.
- Make copies of correspondence or other printed material.
- Update and report various HSE metrics in a spreadsheet - daily, weekly & monthly.
- Maintain and update documents, procedures, corrective actions, and incident lists for the shipyard.
- Issue control numbers for incidents, audits, and various safety documentation.
- Prepare, sort, and coordinate documents in preparation for safety audits.
- Track and transfer work and exposure hours.
- Generate weather reports for the Shipyard.
- Prepare and distribute monthly reports and statistics.
- Manage Document Control and generate a tracking registry.
- Create bridging documents, subcontractor questionnaires and other client-related documents.
- Submit OSHA logs
- Prepare data in PowerPoint and Excel for management review.
- Open, sort, prioritize and distribute incoming and outgoing e-mail.
- Compliance with all organizational and safety policies, practices, and procedures. Reports all unsafe activities.
- Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Provides leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge and skill.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
