Role Purpose: The role holder is responsible for independent operation of the production unit’s
daily performance, including Safety, Quality and Productivity and for the daily issues in Bay’s
operation resulting to minimized OAE losses. This role begins to focus on identifying opportunities
for improvement to optimise the production unit.

Responsibilities:
- Heavy emphasis on Safety and Quality
- Perform forklift/truck requirements
- Be able to calculate and make production decisions when the need arises
- Assists in meeting the production schedule goals by completing assignments
- Participates in continuous improvement
- Follows all provisions of operating instructions
- Responsible for the completion and accuracy of all production order data entry
- Monitors and performs product quality and takes appropriate action, including shutdown of process, to prevent or limit production
- Responsible for meeting standard batch times while maintaining safety and quality
- Follows all quality policies and production procedures to ensure quality product is produced
- Responsible for their own Safety and that of others within the Production Bay
- Demonstrates equipment operational knowledge and processing skills to independently conduct
- key production tasks, including weight cuts, the Banbury, the ZSK, pelletor, pellet water
- systems, feeders, soaking systems, and material transfer systems
- Increased operation in ancillary equipment, such as the track mobile, the setup of blowers and Torit filter systems
- Conducts on-line QC tests to ensure product specifications are being met, including the interpretation of the data to adjust the operation parameters, accordingly
- Responsible for optimized production cycle with given product mix, including Quality and
- Productivity for Maximizing Uptime and Minimizing Downtime
- Ensures proactive continuous improvement of plant performance
- Responsible for following daily production instructions, production recipes, etc.
- Ensures accurate raw material usage and production data recording for management and raw
- material management, raw material supply, waste management and reporting etc.
- Communicates maintenance work required effectively, both verbally and using the Maintenance Equipment Status Tag system
- Participates in building Teamwork within the assigned production Bay and throughout the plant.
- Follows established procedures and work instructions in the department
- Daily close follow-up of product quality. Feedback on quality deviations to Shift Leads and other shifts
- Defines roots causes and initiates and/or carries out corrective actions for quality improvements
- Participates in Safety initiatives and takes ownership for improving Safety by correcting any deficiencies that are within their capability to do so
About you
- Strong focus on Safety and Quality
- The Production Operator will need good math and mechanical aptitude skills
- Ability to lift up to 55 lbs
- Follows all provisions of operating instructions
- High School diploma or GED
- Be a team player Flexibility to work other shifts as production demands.
Preferred Experience:
- Forklift experience and/or certification
- At least 1 year in a manufacturing environment
- Batch processing experience
- Plastics manufacturing experience
- 3-5 years experience in Production
- Strong mechanical, hands-on aptitude
- Understanding of the plastics industry, manufacturing, suppliers, customers
