Job purpose
The Director of IT Enterprise Architecture will lead and oversee the enterprise architectural strategies within BorgWarner. This role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality enterprise architectural framework, standards, and governance aligned with our company business goals and strategies. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and a strategic mindset to drive innovation and efficiency.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the enterprise architecture framework to ensure alignment with business goals.
- Facilitate the design and implementation of IT systems and infrastructure that support business processes and objectives.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensure the security, scalability, and reliability of IT systems.
- Lead and mentor a team of IT professionals, providing guidance and support.
- Develop and enforce IT policies, standards, and guidelines.
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for the enterprise architecture team
- Ensure the implementation of best practices in architecture
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements and project scope.
- Manage the functional developments budget and resource allocation.
- Monitor and report on project progress, ensuring timely delivery of solutions.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team.
- Mentor and develop team members, providing guidance and support for their professional growth
- Lead projects that span multiple domains including networking, storage, and virtualization
- Provide technical direction and audit design decisions
- Drive operational excellence, including external support strategies, financial budget management, and KPI-driven operational dashboards
- Communicate overall portfolio status, prioritization, KPI and OKR results across IT leadership and executive business partners (VP, Strategy Board)
- Collaborate with key stakeholders on developing and presenting product and technology solutions and roadmaps for complex business and IT needs
- Analyze the current architecture to identify weaknesses and develop opportunities for improvements.
- Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with architectural standards across all IT projects

What we’re looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- 5-10 years of experience in IT architecture, systems design, and implementation.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman).
- Experience with cloud computing, data management, and cybersecurity.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Proven leadership and project management abilities.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to think strategically and drive innovation.
- Hands on experience managing budget forecasts and actuals.
- Automotive or manufacturing experience is a plus.
