Job Description: Well established general practice law firm in Middlesex County is seeking a 1-3 year associate for commercial litigation and related transactions. Experience is preferred but not required. Recently admitted attorneys licensed to practice in NJ are welcome to apply. Applicant must be hard working, self-starting and willing to learn. Applicant will assist and oversee in the preparation of land use applications for zoning and planning boards with staff and paralegals; present applications to land use boards; liase with professionals including architects, engineers, surveyors, zoning/ planning boards and their attorneys, as well as municipal and county clerks in connection with land use applications. Required Skills/ Certifications:

A New Jersey bar license is required. Applicant must have experience with and able to use law library, utilize internet assisted research such as Westlaw or Lexis, reporter systems, statutes, administrative codes, court rules, and New Jersey Judiciary’s eCourts filing system Must understand and use rules governing courts and basic litigation procedures. Experience in all aspects of litigation including discovery, depositions, motion practice, and trial as well as a basic understanding of commercial transactions are a plus but not required. Federal bar admission and a basic understanding of the Federal Pacer program are helpful but not required.The ideal candidate will manage litigation cases and resolve legal disputes on behalf of clients by developing agreements, negotiating contacts, setting claims and advocating for clients in court. This individual will build client relationships and provide an excellent customer experience for clients. Land Use Position: A basic understanding of New Jersey Municipal Land Use Law and local ordinances in connection with zoning and code enforcement is a plus but not required. A familiarity with the process of land use and zoning variance applications including use of application forms and filing procedures relevant to land use applications to zoning and planning boards is helpful. Applicant must have experience with and able to use law library and utilize internet assisted research such as Westlaw or Lexis.
