SERVICE WRITER Job Description
Reports to the Director of Service and Parts
The Service Writer’s role is comprised of 3 main functions: Supporting the Team, Managing Logistics and Workflow to best serve our customers, and Managing Financial Results of the Service Departments. Each of these roles require different amount of time, but share equal importance to effectively running successful Service Departments and complete the responsibilities listed below:
Supporting the Team:
- Sets the standard for keeping service areas clean and presentable.
- Maintains and assigns repair schedules based on Service Technician availability and ability.
- Initiates and maintains the creation and maintenance of all work orders.
- Communicates the needs and desires of the customer for Service Technicians, as well as maintaining documentation supporting such.
- Communicates the needs and desires of the Service Technician for the customer, as well as maintaining documentation supporting such.
Managing Logistics and Workflow:
- Creates and maintains a best practice for efficient flow of parts from the Parts Department to the Service Department.
- Oversees workflow between service locations to optimize Service Technician skills, time and results.
- Schedules, in coordination with the Logistics Coordinator, pickups and deliveries of customer equipment.
- Communicates regularly with customers the timeliness of their repair, as well as any anticipated issues-be it financial or logistic in nature.
Managing Financial Results:
- Calculates and prepares estimates of pricing and timeline to customers in an efficient and timely manner.
- Meets or exceeds financial goals set by the Supervisor.
