Description:
The Discharge Inspector shall evaluate and inspect the quality of heat treated material for the continuous operation of the Heat Treat in accordance with plant policies and procedures. He/she will ensure a safe and compliant operation during his/her shift.
Working Conditions:
Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment; hot when weather is hot and cold when weather is cold. Greasy, dirty and noisy environment. Work involves lifting, pulling and/or pushing of materials and product up to 50 pounds. Standing and walking considerable distances. Operation requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots, and hardhats. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
1. Qualifications:
1.1. A High School diploma or GED is preferred.
1.2. Read, write and speak English in a clear and effective manner.
1.3. Manual dexterity required for operating machinery, hand tools and hand held technical devices.
1.4. Knowledge of OCTG manufacturing processes, API procedures, and operation is required.
1.5. Employee must be able to work with a flexible schedule which may require over-time.
1.6. Ability to read pie tape, dial and digital gages.
1.7. Ability to use saddle gage, coater dry and wet mil gage.
1.8. Visibility of work requires attention to detail and basic computer skills.
2. Responsibilities:
2.1. Take pie tape measurements on both ends of tube.
2.2 Take saddle gage measurements on both ends of tube.
2.2. Take ovality gage measurements on both ends of tube.
2.3. Communicate any irregularities on pipe tube to straightener operator and discharge operator to ensure quality control per API standards and BMP S.O.P.
2.4. Employee must follow all PPE policies and safety rules.
3. Activities:
3.1. Check tube pipes for straightness, ovality, and size.
3.2. Check tube pipes for proper coating coverage and thickness.
3.3. Count tube pipes to every heat to maintain traceability.
3.4. Check weld line straightness on each heat.
3.5. Check for smash ends on pipe lead of each heat.
3.6. Check pipe tube for irregular marks of each heat.
3.7. Filling out inspection paper with information gathered from each lot.
3.8. Marking all rework, re-straight, ovality, scrap with proper color code.
3.9. Maintain good housekeeping practices in the work area and keep it free and clear of debris.
3.10. This position may require operating a Forklift and Overhead Crane.

3.11. Complete Job Safety Analysis on a daily basis.
3.12. All other duties assigned.
4. Authority and Obligation:
4.1. This position has the authority to stop the Discharge operation if he or she deems it necessary, for reasons of possible equipment damage or bodily danger.
