Within Chassis Controls – as the Engineering for Japanese Customers (JOEM) department, we are responsible for the “in-vehicle” calibration/testing of the Electronic Stability Control device (ABS/TCS/ESP/ESC/ACC/ADAS) and the Electronic Brake Booster (Vacuum free brake boost and ADAS) which both manage vehicle movement and motion during safety critical situations as well as highly automated driving. We work side by side with Function and Performance Developers within the USA and globally across many Bosch/Customer locations. We are in regular contact with our customers and actively work with them in their prototype vehicles to develop, refine, and validate their systems and requirements at test facilities around the world.
In the end, our department delivers the calibration, software, and technical project leadership to achieve our customer targets. We deliver on our commitment to the customer and support their vision for the future of mobility.
Job Description
Robert Bosch LLC is looking for a vehicle Calibration Engineer at our Plymouth, MI location. This position will be in our performance development team working with advanced safety systems including brake modulators, electronic brake boosters, and future braking system configurations. The ideal candidate would be highly self-motivated and have the willingness to dive right in. You will work directly with a complete development team including project leaders, calibration engineers, and function developers to come up with project-specific solutions with strong customer input for Chassis Control systems.
Below is a highlight of the things you would being working on:
- Performance development for Active Safety products with focus on brake systems with vehicle motion features.
- Calibration of ESP and Braking Safety functions and products to customer-specific vehicle projects mainly by in-vehicle calibration.
- Validate and document customer performance requirements and Bosch-internal criteria are met within given timelines.
- Test and calibration of vehicle performance in close contact with customer representatives in national and international settings.
- As a member of an international team, you will work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project success.
- Supervise test vehicles and coordinate vehicle build activities with technicians.

- BS in Engineering
Preferred Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- BS in Engineering
- 1 years of engineering experience from school or professional work, to include experience with vehicle dynamics.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prefer Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- 2 years of experience in electronic stability control (ABS/TCS/ESP®), brake system/booster.
- Good understanding of vehicle architecture and chassis control interfaces.
- Vehicle performance driving experience (precise handling at physical limits with a “safety first” attitude).
- Good written / verbal communication and presentation skills to discuss issues / solutions with your team.
- Good English skills verbal / written (additional languages encouraged).
- Experience with vehicle and system test and release procedures in automotive or related industry.
- Capable to work independently in an organized and structured fashion with strong analytical skills that supports a systematic approach to problem resolution.
- Valid driver license.
- Experience with JOEM customers (Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Subaru, etc.)
- Strong sense of responsibility and commitment, innovative thinking.
