HR/Payroll and Accounting Role:

Summary: This full-time hybrid salary position reports to the Chief Financial Officer and provides an opportunity to take on responsibilities in Human Resources, Benefits and Accounting, while working with employees at all levels in the Company. The core responsibilities are listed below.

HR and Payroll responsibilities:

· Become proficient in the Company’s payroll system Paycom, and support all changes and upgrades to the system, and serve as the Paycom point of contact.

o Although inherent in this role, it must be stated that the utmost confidentiality must be maintained in this smaller office setting of under 100 employees.

· Accurately process bi-weekly payroll in Paycom (both salary are hourly employees are on the same pay schedule, 26x per year), and this need may arise even on a day off.

· Calculate bi-weekly commission payments for sales employees.

· Enter and maintain all benefit deductions in Paycom for new employees, and assist current employees for any changes requested.

· Manage the Company’s annual health insurance renewal and enrollment process. Changes to and evaluating new carriers will be a team project.

· Modify and develop existing and new HR policies in the employee handbook that support business objectives as well as adhering to the existing employment laws.

· Work with Company managers for their new hires, by identifying a diverse pool of candidates that meet the qualifications and high standards of a Boss employee.

Oversees placement of job postings/ads on internal and external job boards.

· Ensures all background and other pre-employment screening is processed and completed.

· Manages and completes the orientation and on-boarding process for new employees, as well conducting the exit interview process.

· Manage the completion of the employee annual review process that occurs annually in Q2.

· Employee point-person to address items of concern in their job if the employee is unable or is uncomfortable speaking with their manager.

· Ensure legal compliance with state and federal guideline (e.g. – hiring, discrimination, posting notices, etc.)

· Report worker compensation incidents and maintain OSHA logs (incidents are very low at Boss).

Accounting responsibilities:

· Learn the Company’s financial system SAGE to support all basic accounting functions.

· Basic account reconciliations (prepaids, accruals) and entering journal entries in SAGE.

· Complete daily and monthly bank reconciliations.

· Enter wire transfers, ACH transactions, positive pay and ACH files in the Company’s banking website.

· Enter all payroll journal entries and reconciliations from the payroll process noted in the HR and Payroll responsibilities section above.

· Assist in the monthly close process that is completed in 4 days and assist in the preparation of the resulting month-end financial statement workbook.

· Support the Company’s annual budgeting process, focusing on payroll, health insurance and HR department expenses.

· Monitor compliance with controls and systems and develop new processes to support the business. Assist in the formation of internal controls and policies.

· Assist with compiling/providing information for yearly financial audit.

· Report and pay monthly sales tax to various states.

· Provide monthly budget variance reports to the senior management team.

Qualifications (due to the hybrid role being offered, not all of these may be required pending prior job experience)

· Bachelor’s or Associates degree in HR, Accounting or related field

· HR Certification – SHRM or HRCI preferred

· If currently do not hold, would work towards achieving with cost sponsored by the Company

· 7 years of general Accounting experience

· 7 years of experience in Human Resources and Payroll

  • Combination of the two above for at least 12 years

· 2 year HRIS experience and working with HRIS systems (experience in HRIS implementation a plus)

· Experience working with employee performance systems

· 2 years of experience with administration of Leave of Absence policies including Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and Disability, and Worker’s Compensation

· OSHA safety training (10 Hour)

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and strong habit of proofing your work

· Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

· Experience with financial and payroll programs, and experience in SAGE and Paycom a plus but not required.
