The opportunity
The Boston Bruins is hiring a Senior Manager, Public Relations and Communications to join our team in Boston, Massachusetts. This role will support the CEO through communication planning and execution, executing administrative task, and managing special projects. The Senior Manager, Public Relations and Communications will also manage an extremely active calendar of appointments, plan, coordinate, and ensure the CEO’s schedule is followed, prioritize inquiries and requests while troubleshooting conflicts to ensure smooth day-to-day engagements.
Pay
Minimum – Anticipated Maximum Base Salary: $94,100 – $127,000 / year
In addition to base salary, we offer an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan. What will you do?
- Communicate directly and on behalf of the CEO with the corporate office, various boards, donors, foundation contacts, business partners, community officials, and other business contacts
- Draft speeches, statements, talking points, letters, memos, reports and more as needed as well as handle confidential correspondence with minimal direction
- Build and maintain relationships with media, community leaders, sponsors and partners to support consistent messaging and enhance public perception of the Boston Bruins and TD Garden
- Collaborate with VP, Communications and Content to assist in creating strategies for both the CEO and overall organizational business, entertainment, community, and other human-interest initiatives for both internal and external media to enhance the brand and fanbase
- Work with VP, Marketing Communications to coordinate executive participation as SME for various media opportunities, plan prepare calendar of speaking roles for executive team.
- Research, prioritize, and follow up on issues and concerns directed to the CEO and determine the appropriate course of action, referral, or response.
- Attend events with and on behalf of the CEO to manage external relations efforts and serve as a liaison to the CEO’s Office.
- Collaborate with Delaware North Corporate Communications team for all Executive speaking engagements, providing scripts and content
- Draft and disseminate team announcements for off-ice activities, including ticket sales, marketing, corporate sponsorship, youth hockey, community relations, and special events.
- Facilitate coverage of all Bruins non-hockey events and manage credentialing as assigned.
- Manage and update the CEO’s social media profiles and posts, such as LinkedIn, Instagram, and X.
- Coordinate with community relations teams to support community outreach initiatives and programs.
- Perform other duties as requested to support the CEO
More about you
- Bachelor’s degree in communications or similar is required
- 5 to 10 years of experience supporting C-Level Executives in communications and PR; prior experience in professional sports is a plus
- Experience in internal and external communications and partnership development.
- Strong organizational, written, verbal, interpersonal, and attention to detail skills.
- Ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including staff, board members, and external partners.
- Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability and the ability to multi-task.
- Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands, and demonstrate the highest level of service and response.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve high-performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Forward-looking thinker, who actively seeks opportunities and proposes solutions
- Proficient in computer and assorted technology, including all Microsoft Office software programs, Adobe InDesign, Zoom, as well as social media platforms
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as directed by the CEO and event schedules
- Possess a strong understanding of the varying range of media hours, requiring the need to respond and act at all times
