Temporary Administrative Assistant - Associate Deans, CSON
The Connell School of Nursing (CSON) seeks a highly organized and proactive Temporary Administrative Assistant to provide support to three Associate Deans.
The position is expected to run from June to October 2025, with flexible hours of 28-35 per week.
The Administrative Assistant provides high-level administrative support to three Associate Deans: the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Faculty Development, the Associate Dean for Inclusive Excellence, Diversity, and Belonging, and the Associate Dean for Research and Integrated Sciences. This role supports the advancement of each Dean’s respective priorities and initiatives, working collaboratively with faculty and staff within CSON, across Boston College, and with external partners as needed. Responsibilities include day-to-day management of scheduling and calendars, as well as coordination of special projects as assigned.
The person in this position fields a variety of questions, issues, concerns that are directed to the Associate Deans. They assist and advise staff, faculty, and students, and determine what action to take or refer the inquiry to the appropriate area.
They are responsible for prioritizing issues referred to the Associate Deans, addressing those requiring immediate attention and determining which issues may or may not need to be referred to the Associate Dean. The individual will work closely with faculty to ensure proper documentation is provided for projects and submissions, while exercising sound good judgment when interacting with faculty members to keep information in confidence.
As Administrative Assistant to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Faculty Development, the Associate Dean for Inclusive Excellence, Diversity, and Belonging, and the Associate Dean for Research and Integrated Sciences, this person will:
- Maintain the Associate Deans' calendars,
- Arrange meetings, appointments, and travel plans, including processing of travel reimbursements.
- Prioritize and screen Associate Dean’s mail, phone calls, and visitors.
This position supports three Associate Deans who are members of the Connell Leadership Group and carry out high-level administrative duties. The Administrative Assistant also serves as a liaison to communicate essential information and updates to faculty and students.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Preparing agendas and taking minutes at designated meetings.
- Acting as a liaison for ONR and OSP offices.
- Liaison and assist with BORN, CCNE and Certifying Agency Reports.
- Collaborate with departments across campus to assist with Diversity in Nursing Action Board (DNA) meetings.
- Providing administrative assistance with grant proposal submissions by preparing grant related materials including but not limited to NIH online electronic applications.
- Preparing and coordinating reservations, meal arrangements, and materials for meetings.
- Reserving and preparing meeting/event spaces, including setup and breakdown as needed

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred; 3 years of administrative support experience preferably in an academic setting.
- 1-3 years of administrative support or equivalent experience preferably in an academic setting.
- The position would be for approximately 28-33 hours per week, depending on department needs and rate is commensurate with experience.
