What are the responsibilities and job description for the NPI Strategic Sourcing Manager position at Boston Dynamics?
As the NPI Strategic Sourcing Manager, you will lead and support the development, implementation, and management of global sourcing strategies to provide Boston Dynamics with optimal flexibility, quality, and supply assurance. You will be responsible for all NPI phases of sourcing, which includes identification, validation, cost negotiation, creating competitive environments, as well as generating and negotiating contracts to ensure seamless availability of products to support company objectives. Every day, you will help us source, build, deliver, and maintain market-driven products that delight our customers, impress the public, and drive sales and growth. Day to day activities:
- Design and implement an effective sourcing strategy to ensure a steady supply of high-quality, low-cost products
- Lead supplier identification, assessment, qualification and selection
- Execute RFPs, and influence new business award decisions
- Create a supply chain that has the capacity to grow as we add more products and increase sales of these products
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, MOQ’s and EOQ’s with suppliers, CM’s, ODM’s and JDM’s
- Participate in establishing short-term and long-range planning and budget development to support the company’s strategic business goals
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams to identify supply risks and cost opportunities related to product design
- Conduct site assessments, audits, and oversee qualifications
Desired skills:
- Experience creating and maintaining an efficient global supply chain for complicated electro-mechanical components and assemblies
- Seasoned understanding of mechanical components (machining, casting, injection molding), managing EOL’s, and long leads
- Ability to take risks, negotiate deals, manage expectations, and help create a disciplined development process
- Experience implementing and managing kanban style agreements and systems
- Ability to drive results within a cross-functional, highly collaborative, and fast-paced environment
Travel:
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
