Director of Teaching & Learning (1.0 FTE)

Job Responsibilities:

The Director of Teaching & Learning will serve as the point person for leading and strengthening the teaching and learning work at Boston Green Academy. Specifically, this position will

  • Lead all curriculum, instruction and assessment work at BGA with an emphasis on strengthening student outcomes and fostering innovative, equitable, and effective teaching
  • Coordinate and provide professional development for BGA staff, including Wednesday PD offerings, August PD time, and other special opportunities
  • Direct and support partnerships and grants that strengthen teaching and learning work
  • Serve as the facilitator of the Instructional Leadership Team (ILT) and help coordinate professional development for all staff in the summer and throughout the year
  • Supervise and evaluate teachers, support/train other evaluators, and support the evaluation process across all staff members
  • Lead the review of academic data, including formative assessments, at BGA and provide support to Content Team facilitators and teams to strengthen their skills to use data to drive instructional improvement; collaborate with partners and coaches to support this work
  • Support team leaders to be effective facilitators and teacher leaders
  • Support and implement relevant parts of BGA’s Strategic and Accountability Plans, including addressing DESE expectations
  • Support teachers with academic intervention work across the school, including implementation of online resources, intervention classes, and other means of academic support
  • Collaborate with the Head of School, Asst. Head of School, Director of Special Education, Director of Green Programs and others to strengthen the academic program at BGA so that it effectively meets the needs of our students and our green mission
  • Serve as a member of the school’s Leadership Team and Cabinet and attend their meetings
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head of School
  • Return to work as part of the managerial team on August 8, 2022 and participate in our all-school summer professional development prior to the start of the school year.

 

Qualifications:

  • Strong commitment to Boston Green Academy’s mission, values, and educational model
  • Desire to be a part of building a growing, innovative school and to meet the challenges this poses
  • At least five years prior teaching and/or administrative experience required; experience with curriculum design, assessment/evaluation, and instructional improvement work highly preferred
  • Ability to collaborate, work well under pressure, and maintain a sense of humor and humility
  • Masters degree required; in education or leadership preferred
  • Must hold a valid Administrative/Supervisor license from DESE
  • Current authorization to work in the United States.  Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment

Compensation:

  • All teachers and staff at BGA will receive excellent salaries and benefits as employees of the Boston Public Schools with stipends available for additional responsibilities 
  • Terms for this position: BASAS, Group 10B
