The mission of the Mayor's Office of Housing (MOH) is to make Boston a more equitable and inclusive city where all residents can thrive. MOH oversees programs that create and preserve affordable housing, support homeowners and renters, provide housing and services to homeless individuals and families, and develop city-owned property. The Mayor's Office of Housing seeks to carry out its mission through a lens of promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion and addressing the effects of systemic racism in our city.

Within the Mayor's Office of Housing (MOH), under the supervision of the Director for the Office of Housing Stability (OHS) or their designee, the Housing Stability Strategic Partnerships Manager will be responsible for coordinating and implementing strategies to develop and maintain partnerships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders on behalf of the Office of Housing Stability, while also overseeing the resolution of housing-related requests from elected officials.

Responsibilities

  • Provides oversight and ensures effective resolution of housing-related requests from elected officials, including City Councilors, State Representatives, and other members of government at various levels.
  • Manages collaboration with city departments, other government agencies, and nonprofit service providers to ensure the perspectives and needs of at-risk or displaced individuals or families are considered in various projects, programs, policies, and initiatives.
  • Co-manages client databases to track efforts and outcomes and to produce required reports.
  • Maintains and deepens relationships as the liaison to intergovernmental relations by providing support, exceptional communication, and training on programs and procedures.
  • Responds to housing emergencies and assists tenants in finding temporary and / or permanent housing by providing case management services to those at risk of losing their housing or who have been displaced.
  • Assesses the needs and status of at-risk or displaced individuals or families to determine housing options and facilitate access to other necessary resources or services.
  • Develops relationships and works with community-based agencies, property managers, owners, and landlords to facilitate housing placement for at-risk and displaced tenants.
  • Provides information and answers inquiries from landlords, tenants, and other constituents concerning various aspects of landlord-tenant relations, including familiarity with tenant and landlord rights.
  • Serves in a key leadership role during fires, natural disasters, and other emergencies for tenants at risk of eviction, displacement, or homelessness.
  • Triages phone cases between the operations management team and housing crisis case coordinators.
  • Serves in an intermittent on-call role on nights, weekends, and holidays and responds during major emergencies that result in eviction, displacement, or homelessness.
  • Maintains up-to-date information and knowledge regarding tenancy preservation, homelessness prevention, and housing placement resources offered by city, state, and nonprofit agencies.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications

  • Commitment to prioritizing constituents from historically excluded communities.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in providing case management services related to housing search and housing placement.
  • A bachelor's degree in social work, public policy, government, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Professional experience with partner development and support.
  • Appropriate substitutions can be made.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of resources available to landlords and tenants to preserve tenancies and assist with housing searches.
  • Excellent customer service and proven ability to work with the public.
  • Strong mediation, facilitation, and listening skills.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with standard office workplace technology such as Microsoft Suite, Salesforce, Word, Excel, and Google.
  • Dual language capabilities are preferred.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the position.
  • BOSTON RESIDENCY REQUIRED
