What are the responsibilities and job description for the Guild - Daily Substitute Opportunities (SY24-25) position at Boston Public Schools?
Note: This is a Guild Substitute Pool posting, which will be used to review resumes from prospective candidates who might be interested in working as a Guild Substitute in vacancies that are not anticipated to exceed thirty (30) consecutive workdays. Guild Substitutes will be hired to cover day-to-day assignments, as will be determined by the Schools or Central Office Departments.
Reports to: Principal/Headmaster
General Description:
Under the general supervision, serves as secretary to the principal or headmaster of a school; performs complex clerical work requiring exercise of independent judgment. Uses appropriate current technology to carry out duties.
Responsibilities:
1. Performs general correspondence.
2. Maintains confidentiality of records, communications and information as appropriate.
3. Sorts and distributes mail.
4. Registers or assists in the registration and discharge of students.
5. Answers telephone and general inquiries in a professional manner, and redirects calls where appropriate.
6. May operate office machines.
7. Greets and assists visitors in a professional manner.
8. Maintains files.
9. Coordinates with Payroll Liaison in order to ensure the time is completed
10. Responds to inquiries from parents, teachers, pupils and other staff.
11. Performs related duties of a similar nature, as requested by supervisor, which are commensurate with job duties and responsibilities.
Qualifications Required:
1. High School diploma or equivalency
2. Basic computer skills including word processing, email
3. Successfully completed appropriate course work
4. Good Communication Skills
Terms: Compensation shall be paid at Step 1 of the Grade of the position for which the substitute is covering. If a Guild Substitute applies for and is hired into a regular part-time or full-time position, they will receive one month of seniority for each consecutive qualifying school year immediately preceding their appointment in a regular part-time or full-time position. A qualifying school year is any school year in which the Guild Substitute worked 15 or more days.
