We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to lead our Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs while ensuring compliance with all OSHA, EPA, and Massachusetts state regulations.

Position Summary
The Safety Manager will develop, implement, and manage company safety and environmental policies, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws. This role will provide leadership in fostering a culture of safety across shipyard operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Safety Compliance:
o Conduct and oversee regular safety inspections, audits, and assessments.
o Manage accident investigations, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
o Maintain OSHA 300 logs and submit quarterly injury reports.
• Training and Education:
o Develop, schedule, and conduct safety training for employees and subcontractors (e.g., LOTO, PPE, confined space, and hot work).
o Ensure compliance with industry regulations such as 29 CFR 1915, 1910, 1926.
• Environmental Management:
o Oversee hazardous waste management, air emission tracking, and water sampling.
o Maintain compliance with Title V operating permits and all BMP inspections.
o Submit required reports to agencies such as MADEP, EPA, and OSHA.
• Leadership and Reporting:
o Collaborate with project managers, safety committees, and employees to implement best practices.
o Lead spill response initiatives and act as Point of Contact (PIC) for internal/external fuel transfers.
o Submit flash reports, safety metrics, and environmental compliance updates to management.
• Equipment and Material Oversight:
o Manage fire extinguisher, crane, generator inspections, and calibrations.
o Maintain MSDS records and oversee PPE inventory for stockrooms.

Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years in an EHS or safety management role within heavy industry or maritime settings.
• Certifications: Ability to obtain certifications for:
o Hot Work Inspections
o Scaffold Competent Person
o Marine Chemist Assistance Programs (preferred).
• Skills:
o Proficient in OSHA/EPA regulations.
o Strong communication and leadership skills.
o Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly and navigate shipboard environments (climbing, kneeling, and stooping).
• Must meet physical standards for wearing PPE under OSHA regulations.

Salary : $85,000 - $125,000
