What are the responsibilities and job description for the Web Developer position at Boston University - College of Engineering?
The College of Engineering Information Technology office is currently seeking a motivated contracted Web Developer who can work both independently and collaboratively. This position creates and deploys user interfaces (UI) for websites and web applications that improve user experience (UX) in alignment with the business objectives of a project, strategic direction of the University, and branding standards. Hiree works collaboratively with the project team, faculty, and or staff to conceptualize, design, prototype, build, and document websites and web applications that define innovative user interfaces and interaction styles and patterns. He/she coordinates and conducts usability testing to identify and solve interface problems, and helps inform development of user-friendly web experiences. In addition, this position will analyze emerging technologies and implement them wherever it is most beneficial. This position will report to the Manager of Business Systems & Applications.
Key qualifications
- Must Have: JavaScript, MySQL, PHP, Docker, WordPress, Git, Front-end development
- Nice to Have: UX, CSS, HTML5, React, Bootstrap, AWS
Soft Skills:
- Proficient spoken and written communication in English.
- Ability to define and review project scope & estimate Interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage several projects simultaneously with limited supervision.
- Ability to work on teams with colleagues from several BU departments/organizations.
This is a contract position, 40 hours a week, hybrid (remote time negotiable with earned trust).
