Senior Manager Structural Engineering

As we enter 2025, Boswell has a rare career growth opportunity as either Senior Manager or Department Head of our Structural Engineering Division! In this role you will work closely with our clients as well as manage a team of Project Managers, Design Engineers, Draftsman, and support staff out of our S. Hackensack, NJ office (3 days office, with 2 days remote schedule is possible.)

Responsibilities:

• Perform structural analysis, design, and assessment of building structures
• Work closely with our new and reoccurring clients in preparation of upcoming projects
• Prepare detailed design calculations, technical reports, and assessment reports
• Manage subordinate staff on a day-to-day basis
• Ensure satisfactory performance of staff on specific projects
• Develop plans and specifications in accordance with client requirements
• Serve as a Project Manager on select project assignments
• Monitor status of multiple projects
• Identify staffing needs and coordinate with the Talent Acquisition team
• Interview candidates for vacancies in the department
• Preparation of proposals and qualification statements for new contracts
• Manage client relationships and engagement with the clients
• Identifying new clients and business development opportunities
• Work collaboratively with other departments and engineers on projects with infrastructure authorities on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded improvement and development projects
• Assist if needed with inspection and design which requires work both in the field and in office
• Manage the department/ project budgets.
• Lead and Mentor more junior engineers
• Remain current in latest engineering techniques and practices
• Attend meeting outside of working hours if needed
• Adhere to internal standards, policies and procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor degree (BS) in Civil or Structural Engineering, or equivalent
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in New Jersey and New York are preferred.
• 13 years of experience as a Senior Engineering Manager with an organization involved with inspection, design, construction of bridges culverts, retaining walls, and overhead sign structures
• 10 years of experience in Project Management
• Experiences working with New Jersey municipalities
• Significant experience working with the NJDOT, NJTA, NYC Transit, NYCDOT, and NYSDOT
• Interpersonal communication skills
• Excellent writing, editing and document organizational skills
• Current US work eligibility is required.
• Comprehensive knowledge of and familiarity with technology, software and automated processes in design and construction projects
• Experienced in management of consultant agreements either as consultant manager or the client
• Demonstrated experience as Project Manager in Design and/or Construction Inspection projects
