GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK:
The purpose of this job is to provide customer service and clerical support work assisting with local taxation of the following: personal property, business license, real estate, and local option taxes. Other duties include assisting with general operations of the Commissioner of the Revenue’s Office.
This position works independently under general supervision of the Commissioner of the Revenue.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
The duties would involve customer service such as answering phones and emails and working directly with individual taxpayers and businesses. Assisting taxpayers so that they have required documentation, and correct information.
Serves as a key customer service role, including answering questions about taxes. Performs data entry and recordkeeping for the Commissioner of the Revenue and maintains accurate confidential records.

Office, data entry, document production, and recordkeeping skills required.
Ability to understand and translate State Code, County Code and departmental policies and procedures to the general public.
Ability to effectively coordinate with other departments.
Knowledge of Computers, the Internet, Microsoft Word & Excel and general office procedures.
EDUCATION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or relevant qualifications required.
College degree preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 20 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, speaking, hearing, reaching with hands and arms, and occasionally requires standing and lifting. Work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities; work has no exposure to environmental conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (i.e., business office, light traffic).
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must submit to a background check, possess, and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable history.
