We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. This role involves daily interaction with pets, ensuring their well-being, cleanliness, and comfort while assisting with various tasks related to their care.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and exercising dogs and other pets.
- Maintain cleanliness of kennels and common areas by performing regular cleaning duties.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to the supervisor or veterinary staff.
- Assist in administering medications as directed by veterinary professionals.
- Handle dogs of various sizes and temperaments safely and effectively.
- Support pet owners during drop-off and pick-up times, providing excellent customer service.
- Assist with training activities as needed, reinforcing positive behaviors in the animals.
- Help with heavy lifting tasks such as moving supplies or large pet carriers when necessary.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in animal handling or working in a kennel environment is preferred.
- Skills in dog handling, pet grooming, or veterinary assistance are highly desirable.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks and maintain physical stamina throughout the workday.
- A background in veterinary technology or training is a plus but not required.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with team members and pet owners.
