The Role
Bottomline is looking for an Early in Career Java Engineer to grow with us either remotely or out of our Portsmouth, NH office!
As a Software Engineer working on the Digital Banking IQ (DBIQ) platform, you’re responsible for planning, designing, developing, implementing, and testing DBIQ-Enterprise Payment and Cash Management software. Your work involves both creating new software and enhancing existing DBIQ-Enterprise systems and Cash Management software. Your work involves both creating new software and enhancing existing DBIQ-Enterprise systems.
The DBIQ-E L3 Team is looking for a well-rounded Java application developer to develop web and back-end applications for major financial institutions. Along with development, you will also be responsible for troubleshooting customer questions. You will work with other developers and Enterprise Support Account Managers/Product Owners to define business problems, analyze existing systems, and perform code changes/enhancements. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to design new applications and new functionality, resolve code bugs, perform unit tests, lead code reviews, and author application documentation
This position will be part of a global team of motivated and innovative thinkers that design cutting-edge software to help some of the largest banks in the world meet customer demand for global payments and reporting
How You Will Contribute
- Report directly to the L3 Engineering Support Team Supporting the Banking software Production
- Work with quality assurance personnel on defect resolution.
- Work with quality assurance personnel on user acceptance testing activities.
- Promote best practices and contribute to re-use of functionality.
- Develop code for system changes or enhancements within Bottomline technology and architecture specific to the application layer according to specifications and standards.
- Participate in and contribute to formal and informal code reviews.
- Prepare and execute accurate unit test plans, test data, and test modules and scripts.
- Document code changes and unit test results per Best Practices.
- Perform L3 production support, troubleshooting, and maintenance (defect resolution).
What Will Make You Successful
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent work experience.
- Desire to work in a production support engineer role.
- 1-3 years of hands-on development experience with J2EE and Java.
- Developing Oracle SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and triggers for Oracle databases.
- Java Front End Technologies: JSP, Servlets, Java Tag Libraries, React.
- Interest and ability to effectively communicate with customers, internal departments, and other outside parties in a professional manner.
