General Description
The Payroll Manager oversees payroll operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance. They validate wage rates, manage union requirements, and generate detailed reports for management review. Providing guidance to the payroll team, they ensure adherence to company policies and regulations. With a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of payroll, ensuring meticulous and prompt completion of weekly processing.
- Research and validate the accuracy of prevailing wage rates and supervise certified payroll reporting procedures.
- Manage unionized payroll requirements proficiently, including the creation and submission of monthly union reports and the management of union dues, health and welfare contributions, fringe benefits, supplemental dues, and vacation dues according to established agreements.
- Generate detailed reports on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis for management review, encompassing gross payroll, hours worked, vacation accrual, tax and benefit deductions, among other pertinent information.
- Facilitate the resolution of intricate and escalated payroll matters, making informed decisions and executing appropriate actions.
- Uphold meticulous record-keeping and reporting practices that adhere to both organizational policies and legal requirements.
- Collaborate with Accounting, Human Resources and Operations managers.
- Offer supervision, training, and mentorship to Payroll Assistants, fostering their professional growth and development within the department.
- Must keep abreast of all company, state, and federal regulations or laws at all times.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Experiences
- Associates of the Arts or Associates of Science in accounting, and/or, at least five (5) years of experience processing payroll for 400 employees, preferably in Construction
- Manage a team for at least 3 years.
- Two (2) plus years’ experience with construction software in relation to payroll job costing.
Knowledge, Skills, and Requirements
- Knowledge of prevailing wage and union laws (required)
- Labor law compliance in multiple states.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and 10-Key data entry
- Ability to follow through on commitments.
- Must be coachable and open to feedback and improvement.
- Effective communication and comprehension.
- Have good time management with the excellent multitasking skills.
- Knowledge of Paychex, ADP Workforce Now and COINs a PLUS
- Certified Payroll a PLUS
Physical Demands
- Requires sitting for extended periods of time, walking, bending, reaching, carrying, and occasionally lifting and /or moving objects up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk, working in proximity of a desktop.

Pay Range: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00/yr based on experience
