Boulder County Public Works Department is seeking to hire a Construction II/Painter. Construction Worker II is the journeyman level classification in the Construction Worker series. This position in the Construction Worker series is painting and drywall finishing specific. The painting team performs a variety of skilled duties in the construction, maintenance and remodeling of County buildings.
Boulder County Construction is a team of dedicated individuals that are committed to producing a high quality product for the Boulder County tax payers. The Construction/Painting team also remains flexible because work tasks may change multiple times a day and off regular business hours may need to be worked to accommodate Boulder County departments.
This is a full-time, benefited position that will work Monday - Friday 6:00am - 2:30pm, with occasional overtime and off-hours work. This position will work throughout Boulder County, Colorado. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is non-exempt (eligible for overtime).
Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.
Hiring Salary Range: $56,664.00 - $69,198.00 Annually

Examples of Duties
- Site preparation: Measure the work area, cover furniture and fixtures, and remove old paint
- Surface preparation: Sand, tape, caulk and fill holes and cracks
- Color matching: Gather correct paint and other finishes to achieve the desired color and consistency
- Application: Apply paint with brushes, rollers, or spray equipment
- Quality assurance: Perform and final inspection to ensure the work is accurate and high quality.
- Collaboration: Work with clients, carpenters, electricians, and maintenance
- Equipment maintenance: Maintain tools and equipment in good condition
- Reads and interprets construction drawings.
- Maintains jobsite and computer timesheet records, basic computer skills
- Lays out work and requisitions materials, as needed.
- Familiar with OSHA, SDS and safety protocols and applies them to daily activities.
- Performs related work, as required.
- May be reassigned in emergency situations

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Working knowledge of the procedures, materials and equipment used in commercial construction
- Working knowledge of safety in the operation of tools and equipment.
- Working knowledge of OSHA. SDS and Safety practices in the field of construction.
- Ability to work effectively with other employees, agencies and the public.
- Ability to work alternate schedules to meet project demands.
- Back and Upper Body (lifting) Frequently lift from floor to waist with one hand 20-30 lb. power tools, equipment, and building materials. Occasionally lift with two hands from floor to shoulder and carry 60-80 lb. bags of mortar, demolition debris, and general building materials. At least once per day lift with a co-worker (two man lift), 100 lb. building materials such as doors, particleboards, and dry wall. Occasionally use shovels, 20 lb. pry bars, and 8 lb. sledgehammers.
- Hands/Arms (repetitive motion) Constant use of hammer, screwdriver and wrenches. Occasionally operate 5 lb. electric screw guns and 10 lb. circular saw.
- Body Movement Frequently climb and work from ladders, and scaffolds. Occasionally perform work while crawling, or on knees and in unusual positions.
