Boulder County's Parks and Open Space noxious weed work group is hiring three (3) Noxious Weed Field Technicians- Education for the eradication team. The individual hired for this role will work in the Resource Management Division's Noxious Weeds Team. The Technician will perform weed management practices throughout the county to enhance native ecosystems and perform ecological restoration through the control and eradication of invasive plants to preserve Boulder County Open Space.
This is an hourly, seasonal position that will work Tuesday - Friday from 6:00am - 4:30pm. This position has an anticipated starting date of April 8th and will end October 22nd, 2025. This position will work at 5201 St Vrain Road, Longmont, CO 80503.
Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.
Hiring Salary Range: $24.04 - $26.45 Hourly

Frequently lifts up to 50 lbs. and carries up to 100 feet (may be performed by two person lift); occasionally lifts up to 80 lbs. from floor to waist; frequently lifts up to 32 lbs. from shoulder to overhead; occasionally pushes and pulls items weighing up to 100 lbs.; frequently lifts and lowers wheelbarrow with 160 lbs. load; occasionally performs bi-lateral lift of 60 lbs. and carries up to 50 ft.; frequently lifts up to 35 lbs. from waist level and lowers to floor. Frequently bends at waist, squats, kneels, shovels, and rakes. Occasionally climbs ladder; must be able to stand and balance on ladder; occasionally walks over uneven terrain.

Tentative Hiring Timeline
- Phone Screening: March 10th
- First Round Interviews: March 11th
- Conduct manual, mechanical and chemical control of invasive plants/noxious weeds, independently or as part of a crew.
- Mix, load and apply herbicides using motorized and handheld equipment
- Maintain accurate records utilizing GPS and GIS systems
- Operate gas powered weed/grass trimmers for mowing vegetation
- Operate, maintain, repair and calibrate equipment
- Operate off-road vehicles, tank type trucks, and pull trailers (training is provided)
- Identify and map weed infestations using GIS/GPS technology
- Work with youth organizations and volunteer groups, which may necessitate working on weekends
- Perform other duties, as assigned
- May be reassigned in an emergency situation
