Boulder County Public Works is seeking to hire a Parks Technician II. The Parks Technician II is the journey level classification in the Parks Maintenance series. The Parks Technician II performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled duties, requiring independent judgment, in the development and maintenance of County parks, open space, buildings, grounds and facilities.
This is a full-time, benefited position that will work Monday-Friday 6:00am - 2:30pm. This position will work out of 515 Coffman Street Longmont, CO. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is non-exempt.
Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.
Hiring Salary Range: $50,004.00 - $60,300.00 Annually

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Back and Upper Body
Occasionally mows with self-propelled 135 or 175 lb. power mower or cut weeds with 15 lb. power weed whacker (supported with harness), moving from side to side. Occasionally shovels dirt and gravel and digs holes for posts using clam digger and or 19 lb. digging bar. Occasionally lift 43 lb. T-port driver (two man lift with handles) shoulder height to drive metal fence posts. Occasionally lift (two-man lift) eighty-pound cement bags and carry to work site. Occasionally lift and position with assistance ramps to allow tractor loading and unloading from trailer. Occasionally lift and operate two handed 60 lb. jackhammer to break rock. Occasionally picks up and removes trash. Must lift 40 lb. trash bag from ground level to truck bed height of 42 inches (could be two-man lift).
Hands and Arms
Occasionally operate 2-3 lb. hand pruners held overhead. Occasionally operate 15 lb. chain saw with two hands. Requires fine motor dexterity to adjust and maintain power equipment.
Body Movement
Frequently must walk over uneven, rough terrain either pushing, pulling, or carrying equipment. Requires agility to maneuver over limbs, branches, creeks, boulders, etc. Frequently requires ability to sit and drive tractor with mulcher while looking back. Occasionally kneel on angled surfaces to plant flowers and do other work on the ground.

- Performs maintenance and improvement projects on properties administered by the Parks and Open Space Department.
- Plans, organizes and directs maintenance and construction projects.
- Estimates time and materials needed for projects, and purchases materials when necessary to complete projects.
- Directs the work of other Parks staff, hourly employees and community service workers on assigned projects.
- Trains and monitors the other employees' work.
- Operates hand tools, power tools and equipment to perform skilled and semi-skilled tasks.
- Performs related work as required.
- May be reassigned in emergency situations.
