What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Landscape position at Boulder County?
Boulder County Human Services Department is seeking to hire two (2) Seasonal Landscape team members.
These are seasonal, non-benefited positions that will work 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm. These positions will work out of 288 Alaska Avenue Longmont, Colorado. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, these positions are non-exempt (eligible for overtime).
Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.
Hiring Salary Range: $24.04 - $29.04 Hourly
Tentative Hiring Timeline:
- Phone Screening: April 14th
- First Round Interviews: April 16th

- Ensure grounds are appropriately maintained at designated properties
- Regularly check for weeds, rake leaves, plant flowers/shrubs, cut down and remove tree limbs as needed, and perform all lawn care needs
- Perform preventative maintenance and repair work on properties as directed
- Apply herbicide as needed at the direction of the Grounds Supervisor
- Monitor and assist in repair of all irrigation systems at designated properties
- Remove and dispose of garbage on community grounds including common areas, main entrance, and from the residents’ sites as needed
- Operate and maintain appropriate lawncare equipment, hand tools, power tools, and County vehicles
- Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment as needed
- Follow established procedures for tracking and record-keeping including keeping a daily record of work performed, and materials/equipment used on work orders and purchase orders
- Interact independently with residents and the public using good communication, problem-solving, and customer relations skills at all times
- Take proper safety precautions, anticipate unsafe circumstances, and act accordingly to prevent accidents; be responsible for the safety of self, others, materials, and equipment
- Wear proper PPE per BCHA and County policy, including but not limited to gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, Tyvek suits, knee pads, dust masks, respirators, and proper footwear
- Regular, predictable attendance is an essential function of this job
- Performs related work, as required
- May be reassigned during emergency situations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to safely operate lawncare equipment including but not limited to: push mowers, riding mowers, string trimmers, chainsaws and pruners
- Knowledge of techniques used for the maintenance of landscaping
- Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to building maintenance and landscaping
- Experience with the use of materials, equipment, and procedures necessary for building and grounds maintenance
- Experience in the operation of a pickup truck with a trailer
- Willing and able to perform manual labor for extended periods of time and in the summer heat
