The Sales and Business Development Manager is accountable for the development of new business in existing markets and expanding into adjacent markets identified for growth. Target markets include polyolefin catalysts, electronic materials, life sciences, aerospace & defense and other near-adjacent markets.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a sales strategy for assigned markets
- A major focus will be identifying key prospects in target markets and then developing and growing relationships and revenue with those customers
- In addition to growth at new customers, the position will be responsible for growing revenue at assigned existing customers by capturing additional wallet share
- Potentially, if identified as a value-added channel to a given market(s), develop, manage and grow distributor/agent relationships
- While the position will focus primarily on the growth of existing product lines into existing and growth markets, at times the position will partner with Business Management to define opportunities for new or derivative products to drive additional revenue. In these cases, the position is responsible for the ultimate commercialization of the new or derivative products in target markets.
- The position will work across functions internally on pre-sale, post-sale and ongoing activities to ensure customer satisfaction and ongoing business, consistent with BSC’s business model to build and maintain long-term customer relationships. Functions with whom the position collaborates includes most significantly Customer Support and also (but not limited to) Quality, Shipping, Analytical and Manufacturing.
- With Business Management, develop, refine and execute market strategies for existing and adjacent markets capitalizing on BSC’s core capabilities, including:
- Articulating BSC’s competitive advantage in both newly identified and existing markets
- Development of a promotional strategy, tools and content including pitch-paks/presentations, online content, etc.
- The position will maintain a sales funnel and be accountable for moving opportunities through the funnel
- Key performance metrics for the position include overall revenue growth and revenue generated from new opportunities
Qualifications
Qualifications
BS in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or related technical field is required with 5 - 15 years of related work experience
Experience
- A minimum of five (5) years of outside technical sales experience is required, with candidates having specialty/fine chemical sales experience receiving top consideration
- Technical and business experience in BSC’s key markets is a plus but not required
- One must be a goal-oriented self-starter to be successful in the role
- The position suits a “hunter” who thrives on connecting with people and companies that have needs which can be met with BSC’s expertise, capabilities and products
- Ability to travel about 40% of the time if based in Longmont, or about 60% of the time if based remotely
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be keyboarding for extended periods of time. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. The employee will be occasionally visiting manufacturing areas, prep areas, and storage facilities that require the use of PPE.
Salary : $120,000 - $150,000
