Job Description: Barre Instructor

Reports to: Yoga and Fitness Manager
Compensation: Hourly per class; $23.33-$33.33/hour dependent on experience

Barre Instructor
As a Barre instructor with MBP, you are responsible for curating creative, intentional sequences focusing on low impact movements and building endurance in slow twitch muscle fibers. You will teach to a wide range of ages, experience and ability levels, in groups ranging from 1 to 15 participants.
All fundamental fitness class curriculum is programmed to provide base level conditioning in three categories: Cardiovascular conditioning, muscular strength, and soft tissue & joint mobility. Under that, three major value based goals: Fun, education and community building.
General Responsibilities
- Maintain fun and innovative programming and curricula based on the MBP Group Fitness values.
- Maintain applicable certifications, including National, insurance and CPR, without lapse in coverage, and sending certifications to Yoga and Fitness Manager promptly when updated.
- Maintain ongoing and complete responsibility for classes assigned, including finding substitutes in standard and emergency substitution situations.
- Arriving on time and prepared to teach all scheduled classes. Preparedness includes sequence, attire, playlists and energy.
- Preparing the studio space prior to each class to set students up for success, and thoroughly breaking down and cleaning up after each class.
- Timely and effective communication with both Yoga Fitness Manager and MBP Fitness Team.
- Occasionally attending mandatory all staff and department meetings.
Other Responsibilities
- Know one’s professional scope and only teach within its boundaries.
- Exercise good judgment regarding their status as a representative of MBP in the community.
- Act as a leader by demonstrating confidence, preparedness, and always doing their best.
- Engage earnestly in periodic reviews with the Yoga Fitness Manager.
- Maintain a reverent appreciation for feedback and growth.
- Teach intelligent, safe, and fun classes which align with the appropriate intensity level and description.

Working Conditions
As an employee of Minneapolis Bouldering Project, you will maintain a minimum of one class per week on the schedule. These may include evenings and weekends. Classes often occur before and after regular business hours.
