Boulo Solutions is partnering with a Homewood, AL church looking to hire a part time Bookkeeper. If you excel in accounting and are looking for a 20 hour a week position on your own schedule, this could be a great fit for you!


Hours: 20 hours a week on own time

Salary: $35-40k


Summary of Job Responsibilities:

This position works closely with the Rector to faithfully manage financial resources to support the vision, values, and goals of the parish.


Responsibilities include administration of the finances, payroll, bank reconciliation, and budget planning. The Bookkeeper seeks to provide a safe environment, to run an efficient and economical parish and to facilitate organizational communication.


List of Responsibilities and Job Activities:


Financial Ministry

• Process member contributions and post to accounting database

• Manage procedures for collecting, counting and recording offerings received during worship services

• Accounts payable including timely and accurate check preparation and online payments

• Reconcile bank accounts monthly

• Prepare financial reports for Rector, Treasurer and Finance Committee

• Attend monthly Finance Committee meetings

• Assist with annual stewardship campaign including maintaining records, generating weekly reports, and tracking pledges

• Annual Budget preparation for church and preschool

• Coordinate preparation for annual financial audit including gathering required documents, working closely with outside auditors and implementation of any recommendations

• Communicate in person, phone and email with church members to answer financial questions, provide donor records and assist with online payment and software questions

• Maintain confidentiality of information learned and used

• Bi-monthly payroll processing for church staff and contractors, including issuing year end 1099 forms


Critical Success Factors:

1. Demonstrated organizational and leadership skills

2. Strong financial management, accounting and monthly financial reporting skills

3. Bookkeeping experience, including proficiency in use of general ledger accounting systems

4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and knowledge of office etiquette

5. Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel)

6. Ability to supervise and direct the activities of others, and take initiative/make decisions under pressure

7. Integrity, Honesty, and Confidentiality
