Food Quality Assurance Lead

ABOUT THE JOB

The ideal candidate is one who is interested in furthering a career in Quality Assurance. Experience in manufacturing and the food industry would be beneficial. The candidate should be a person of strong character and integrity, possess strong communication skills, be detail oriented, and work well in a team-based environment. Under the direction of the Quality Assurance Manager (SQF Practitioner), the Quality Assurance Lead ensures that products received, produced and shipped meet Food Safety and Quality Program specifications and standards.

This position is responsible for verification of the Food Safety and Quality program at the plant level and works closely with other departments to ensure compliance with appropriate product integrity standards. This position also shares responsibility for the timely completion, review, and disposition of regulatory documents and facility records, and performs activities associated with document flow and all other documents managed by Quality Assurance. This position also helps with the training of plant employees and temporary staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential responsibilities of this job include but are not limited to the following:

• Keeps Quality Assurance Manager informed of all quality issues

• Working with operating staff to maintain compliance of the food safety and quality procedures, standards, and systems

• Ensuring SQF, HACCP, USDA Organic and other programs are followed at the plant level

• Maintaining food safety and quality systems and a strong food safety culture on site

• Assist with training in Safety, SQF, HACCP, USDA Organic, and GMPs

• Assisting with product, company, system, and compliance audits

• Ensuring sanitation standards are in compliance

• Verification of food safety and quality procedures and production reports o COA and inbound ingredient verification

o Inbound ingredient and product quality analysis

o Sending samples for third party micro analysis o Environmental and ATP Swabbing

o Pre-op and scheduled inspections

o Internal audit verification

o HACCP, CCPs, and CQPs validations

o Production report verification

o CCP verifications

o Calibrations

QUALIFICATIONS

A. Experience/Education

• Experience in food or beverage manufacturing is preferred

• Knowledge of Safety, SQF, HACCP, PCQI, CCPs and GMPs

• Ability to read and interpret standard operating procedures

• Ability to train staff on departmental regulations and procedures

B. Skills

• Strong organizational and communication skills

• Ability to manage multiple tasks

• Possesses interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment

• Proficient with Microsoft Office programs

• HACCP, SQF, and PCQI Certification
