What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bus Monitor Head Start- Preschool position at Bourbon County Preschool Head Start?
QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or Equivalent
REPORTS TO: Head Start - Preschool Director
SUPERVISES: Not Applicable
JOB GOAL: To assist bus driver in ensuring the safe transportation of preschool children.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Have a physical examination and T.B. skin test. Physicals paid for by the Bourbon County Board of Education at the local Health Department.
- Be able to lift at least fifty pounds.
- Conduct learning environment by singing songs, reading a story, etc. during bus route down time.
- Be responsible for securing children in and out of child restraints.
- Conduct bus evacuations as per school policy and guidelines.
- Assure that parent or approved adult is there to meet preschooler upon departure from bus.
- Be friendly and courteous to parents.
- Be loving, supportive, kind and positive with the children.
- Be responsible for children learning bus safety.
- Report discipline concerns to the director or school principal.
- Assure that safety procedures are followed for all persons on the bus.
- Responsible for checking bus for students after unloading all bus routes. (Any child left on a bus will be cause for immediate dismissal, NO exceptions.)
- Assist children on and off bus.
- Assist children into the school building.
- Assist the bus driver with emergencies and other duties.
- Other duties as assigned by Head Start - Preschool Director or Superintendent.
- Wear reflective safety vest at all times while transporting children.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary, benefits and work year to be established by Board approved schedule.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually.
