INSTRUCTIONAL PARAPROFESSIONAL (ESL) / MIGRANT
QUALIFICATIONS: Instructional assistants must have graduated from high school or hold a GED
REPORTS TO: Director of Federal Programs, Migrant Coordinator, School Principal
SUPERVISES: Not Applicable
JOB GOAL: To perform a variety of skilled instructional functions in content development; to assist in the conduct of learning experiences; to perform routine clerical and supportive tasks to aid instructional personnel.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist instructional personnel with the presentation of learning concepts and materials.
- Under the direct supervision of the teacher in the classroom environment, provide tutoring to individual and small groups of students to reinforce and follow up with learning activities.
- Monitor and assist students in skill development drills, practice, and study activities.
- Manage student behavior through the use of motivational and positive reinforcement strategies and techniques.
- Prepare a variety of materials and learning aids.
- Maintain a variety of records and files.
- Operate and assist students in the performance of a variety of instructional media, machines, and computer equipment.
- Assist in maintaining an orderly, attractive, and positive learning environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor, which might include principal, program director, teacher or Superintendent.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work day to be determined by the Board.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with Provisions of the of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
