What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Access Specialist position at Bowen Health?

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent, friendly, and professional presence at the front desk.
  • Assist all patients, visitors, and contractors to check-in and out of the building.
  • Communicate with staff in all departments about arrival and departures of patients, visitors, and

contractors

  • Register, check-in, and schedule patients for services
  • Gather required insurance, identification, legal documentation, and consents for registration into

programs

  • Support patients with accessing healthcare coverage
  • Assist with monitoring patient charts for complete and thorough documentation needed for the

authorization and billing process

  • Submit documentation to insurance providers for authorization of services.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma required. Associate or bachelor’s degree in business or

healthcare related field preferred.

  • Certificate or Professional License: None required. Certificate in Revenue Cycle or Utilization

Management preferred. Navigator license preferred.

  • Experience: Two (2) years of office and financial experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and active liability insurance.
  • Satisfactory results from criminal and driving record background checks.

There are options for exemption applications, but approval is not always guaranteed.
