PRIMARY PURPOSE The Planner/Buyer will be responsible for managing the procurement and inventory processes in support of our manufacturing operations. This individual will collaborate closely with production teams, suppliers, and other departments to ensure that materials and components are available to meet production schedules. The Planner/Buyer will maintain accurate inventory levels, analyze material needs, and ensure that purchasing decisions align with cost and quality standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Procurement & Purchasing: * Manage the end-to-end purchasing process, including selecting suppliers, issuing purchase orders, and ensuring timely delivery of materials. * Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers to ensure cost-effective purchasing while maintaining quality. * Work with suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of materials and address any supply chain disruptions, while maintaining positive vendor relationships. * Researches and provides information to the Supply Chain Manager on new vendors to supply or manufacture parts or products.
Material Planning & Inventory Management: * Oversee and maintains daily production schedule and production order creation, scheduling, and prioritization in support departments. * Develop and manage production material requirements based on demand forecasts, production schedules, and historical trends. * Monitor inventory levels to ensure materials are available to meet production needs while minimizing excess stock. * Converts Demand Plan to Build Plan, taking totals from Demand and dispersing daily across build month. * Works with Sales Operations on Sales Order Dating, reconciling lead-time violations to promise dates. * Supports creation and execution of company-wide goals for finished goods inventory levels, turns, lead times, and service levels. * Troubleshoots work orders, problem reports and assists with issues. * Participates in cross-functional continuous improvement teams.
Production Support & Coordination: * Collaborate with production team to understand material needs for upcoming production runs and ensure required materials are ordered and delivered on time. * Support production scheduling by adjusting procurement strategies based on production demands and changes in the schedule.
Supplier Relationship Management: * Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure high-quality products and reliable service. * Work with suppliers to resolve any issues related to product quality, delivery delays, or order discrepancies.
Data Analysis & Reporting: * Analyze purchasing and inventory data to identify trends, reduce costs, and improve procurement efficiency. * Generate reports on inventory status, material consumption, and supplier performance for management review.
Continuous Improvement: * Identify opportunities for process improvements in procurement and inventory management. * Implement best practices for planning and purchasing to enhance overall supply chain performance.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: * Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or related field preferred. * CPM certification preferred. * Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a Planner/Buyer, Supply Chain or Materials Management role, preferably in a manufacturing environment. * Strong understanding of inventory management, purchasing processes, and supply chain principles. * Strong computer skills using Word, Excel, email, MRP systems, and company specific software required. * Strong negotiation and communication skills. * Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple priorities. * Must be able to work in a team environment and produce results in conjunction with fellow team members.
