Community Sales Executive - Youth Programming
Northern Star Scouting seeks a Community Sales Executive to provide leadership in growing community relations and partnerships by carrying out Northern Star's philosophy, mission, and strategy. As the official sales position for Northern Star's emerging programs, the Community Sales Executive is a high-energy, self-driven and goal-oriented position.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Build relationships directly with schools and community partners. Examples of community partners include churches, schools, community groups, youth serving organizations, etc.
Grow number of Schools and Community partners participating in Adventure Classroom, Adventure School (summer), Environmental Learning Center programs, single and multi-day community programs and Northern Star facility utilization.- Market, sell and promote to schools (public and private).
- Utilize networking and promotional opportunities to build a network of community partner connections
- Coordinate program execution and teams. Handle administration and relationships of the program from start to finish.
- Utilize promotional opportunities (expos, principal conferences etc.) to highlight NSS program options to educators and community leaders.
- Connect and coordinate with local scouting units around the schools participating in the program.
- Work with Field Staff to identify School and community prospects and targets.
- Work with the Reservations and Camping Departments to ensure facility and program availability.
Oversee Adventure Classroom and Adventure School program delivery.- Coordinate scheduling, staffing and materials for AC programs.
- Conduct follow-up with participating schools
- Establish review and benchmarking protocols to evaluate program success.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Collaborate with other Northern Star professionals to develop organization-wide strategies.
- Serve on professional staff or Northern Star-level committees and task forces as assigned.
- Prospect and identify volunteers to assist with Northern Star functions or to participate in our annual fundraising campaign.
QUALIFICATIONS
- General: Must be 21 years of age or older and be willing to abide by the policies and standards of Northern Star Scouting and Scouting America.
- Education: Four-year college degree or equivalent is required.
- Experience: Strong sales, organizational and communications skills are essential. Some business/management experience is preferred but not required.
- Residence: Must live within Northern Star's georgraphic territory.
- Interpersonal skills: Solid management, written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills are required. Must be able to be a team leader and player, build relationships and communicate effectively with volunteers, community leaders and staff.
- Confidentiality: Must be able to maintain confidentiality of all information dealing with partners and participants, including staffing issues and all business information.
- Technology/software: Must be able to adapt to changing technology and methods. Intermediate knowledge of Windows and MS Office; Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access skills are needed. Needs to use email and internet access. Utilizes computer software to construct, manipulate data and draw conclusions.
- Competencies: Be a model of the ideals of Scouting. Represent Northern Star in a positive way. Be able to make and keep commitments, completing assignments on time. Effectively manage time and organize work to achieve expected results. Be efficient at backdating and planning. Use innovation and adaptability to be most effective. Use all available resources efficiently. Accept coaching and skill development. Be able to communicate expectations to others and manage several projects simultaneously.
