How you’ll contribute…
Continually identifying and developing new client business by focusing on strategic targets in key industries. This involves market research, lead generation, and relationship management to drive growth for the company. Strong communication, problem-solving, and relationship building skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities…
- Identify, pursue, and develop new business and services opportunities and develop positioning plans to win work
- Establish relationships with existing clients and prospects
- Responsible for representing Boyd Jones and our values in the marketplace – presenting, promoting, and selling the company and its services with compelling messaging
- Collaborate with Business Development, Marketing, and Operations team members to build relationships with prospective clients and partners
- Maintain an active and strategic presence in the community and across multiple sectors through memberships in professional organizations and attending trade shows
- Analyze market activity, identify ideal project and relationship pursuits, and provide insight into market trends
- Identify opportunities for other team members to get engaged in the community
- Ensure successful long-term relationships with clients and partners
- Continually strives to understand the competitive environment and Boyd Jones' competitive advantage
- Ensures continuous enhancement of the Boyd Jones brand
- Facilitate the proposal and presentation process when acting as the pursuit lead
- Input and maintain CRM data in HubSpot for projects when acting as the pursuit lead and provide ongoing updates on business development activities.
- Lead, develop, and participate in strategy sessions
- Perform other duties as required and assigned
What you’ll bring…
- Previous sales or marketing experience in construction, architecture, engineering, commercial banking, commercial real estate, community and economic development, or a related industry preferred
- First-hand experience and strong local/regional network, particularly in the Des Moines market
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a related field required
- Demonstrated ability to successfully influence and persuade others by understanding their individual needs, motivations, and goals is essential
- Ability to challenge conventional thinking, solve problems, and develop creative solutions to assist our clients in fulfilling their mission
- Ability to maximize profitability and generate future work through building relationships
- Ability to interact professionally with all levels of management efficiently and effectively
- Advanced persuasive skills and selling experience required - related to ideas and policies within the organization, as well as products and services in the marketplace
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to participate in after-hours networking or similar events/meetings to enhance business relationships
- Proven track record of success in a business development role in the Des Moines market
- Proven knowledge and execution of marketing strategies
- Ability to commute locally to meet with clients, visit project sites, attend necessary public meetings, trade shows or conferences, etc.
- Enthusiasm for working independently and execute self-developed goals
