How you’ll contribute…
Boyd Jones is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our renewable energy design division. This is a great opportunity for any engineers that enjoy design & engineering but are also passionate about people and wanting to manage/grow teams under their direction.
Key Responsibilities…
- This position is responsible for leading and coordinating engineering activities for the technical support, design and development of projects
- Assist the engineering team as needed learning all aspects of the team’s responsibilities
- Maintain strong relationships with clients
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to maintain a competitive edge.
- Manage budgets, resources, and timelines for engineering projects.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, company policies, etc.
- Establish and maintain engineering best practices, including code reviews, testing strategies, and deployment processes.
- Assess current SOPs and workflows identifying opportunities for improvement
- Ensure projects are completed efficiently, correctly, on schedule, and within budget
- Negotiate contracts with outside vendors
- Maintain relationships and manage expectations with engineering consultants and equipment vendors
- Review engineering work for accuracy and ensuring compliance with engineering principles
- Review of RFPs and contract documents
- Act as liaison with Operations team on matters relating to engineering progress, quality, scope issues on projects as well as interface with customers on technical questions/concerns
What you’ll bring…
Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Structural, etc.)
- 6-12 years of design & engineering experience including renewables.
- PE Licensed in the US
- Preferred Solar experience
Skills:
- Proven knowledge and demonstrated skills in Project Management, use of a structured approach to project leadership, project status management and oversight. Plan and communicate the scope of projects. Lead collaborators’ team. View priorities and creatively apply different types of resources to achieve the agreed objectives. Tracking plans, results and new improvement proposals to the team and top management. Ability to manage multiple projects / priorities simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data and metrics to create understanding, make sound decision making, problem solve and manage performance and progress over time. Experience in how to analyze the failed process.
- Skills in planning, organizing and priority setting, including resource allocation and management.
- Team building and teamwork activities intra and interdepartmental, and with other factories and units in the company (and if possible with other factories to share, clarify and track targets and results).
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Fully capable of communicating, negotiating, making presentations and reporting in English, at a Business and technical English level and cope successfully in an environment exclusive of English-speaking.
