Job Summary
As a Payroll and Benefits Coordinator, you will play a key role in administering employee benefits and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
1. Maintain employee control files including general information, sala1ies, retirement status, tax withholding, and voluntary deductions.
2. Receive payroll data sheets and code for account distributions. All absence information is recorded and cross referenced with superintendent's approvals. Substitute days are recorded and cross referenced with the caller's list.
3. Type checks for payment of federal Social Security, state taxes; Domestic Relations orders and wage attachments; tax shelters, Section 125 and volunta1y deductions. Cafeteria expenses are billed and Social Security expenses are charged to individual expense accounts.
4. Verify payroll expense distribution and update to accounts payable system.
5. Calculate, complete and make applicable payments for the following qua1terly reports; 941 Federal Tax Return, State Tax Reconciliation, PA Unemployment Compensation, Occupational Privilege Tax, Earned Income Tax, FICA and PA Retirement Purchase Report.
6. Purge history files for transfer to W-2 files.
7. Complete fiscal processing of payroll checks for salaried professional staff and non- professional . Accrual of expenses are distributed to expense accounts.
8. Manage employee benefits programs, including enrollment, changes, and terminations
9. Coordinate with insurance providers to resolve issues and ensure accurate record-keeping
10. Assist employees with benefit-related inquiries and provide guidance on available options
11. Collaborate with the HR team to communicate benefit updates and changes to employees
12. Conduct audits to verify data accuracy in benefit systems
13. Prepare reports on benefit utilization and costs for management review
Qualifications
- Proficiency in accounting software and knowledge of payroll procedures
- Previous experience as a benefits coordinator or similar role is preferred
- Familiarity with HR systems such as Skyward
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Understanding of human resources practices related to employee benefits
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
