Job Summary
As a Payroll and Benefits Specialist, you will play a key role in administering employee benefits and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
1. Maintain employee control files including general information, salaries, retirement status, tax withholding, and voluntary deductions.
2. Receive payroll data sheets and code for account distributions.
3. Verify payroll expense distribution and update to accounts payable system.
4. Calculate, complete and make applicable payments for the following quarterly reports; 941 Federal Tax Return, State Tax Reconciliation, PA Unemployment Compensation, Occupational Privilege Tax, Earned Income Tax, FICA and PA Retirement Purchase Report.
5. Purge history files for transfer to W-2 files.
6. Complete fiscal processing of payroll checks for salaried professional staff and non- certificated staff . Accrual of expenses are distributed to expense accounts.
7. Manage employee benefits programs, including enrollment, changes, and terminations
8. Coordinate with insurance providers to resolve issues and ensure accurate record-keeping
9. Assist employees with benefit-related inquiries and provide guidance on available options
10. Collaborate with the HR team to communicate benefit updates and changes to employees
11. Conduct audits to verify data accuracy in benefit systems
12. Prepare reports on benefit utilization and costs for management review
Qualifications
- Proficiency in accounting software and knowledge of payroll procedures
- Previous experience as a benefits coordinator or similar role is preferred
- Familiarity with financial systems such as Skyward
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
