Schedule : Monday through Friday

Position Type : Hourly Non-Exempt

Compensation : $19 / hr

Reports To : Branch Director

Sites : T’iisyaakin Residential Hall (Holbrook, AZ), Winslow Residential Hall (Winslow, AZ), Kinlani Bordertown Dormitory (Flagstaff, AZ) & Cogdill Main Clubhouse (Flagstaff)

Purpose of Position : Under minimal supervision, provides effective programming for club members by coordinating and program planning for groups of 20-40 members at a time. Support and encourage the growth and professional development of club members and actively promote and support BGCF’s mission and goals to ensure the delivery of a quality experience for members. Act as liaison for other program coordinators within the Native Services department.

What You’ll Do :

Prepare Teens for Success Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes by :

Promoting and stimulating participation in assigned programs and activities

Assisting teens with goal setting and skills development

Providing guidance and role modeling to teens

Providing responsible mentorship for teens

Providing proper supervision of teens in your care

Implement High-Quality Programming Enable BGCF to facilitate programs that prepare youth for Great Futures by :

Leading the planning, coordination, and delivery of programming specific to the department each week using, member feedback, grant requirements, and the Youth Development Outcome Measurement Toolkit. Planning will be reflected through lesson plans and program schedule.

Provide direct supervisor with regular updates regarding program activities, including a weekly progress report.

Assist Branch Director in the verification, confirmation and coordination of field trips and other activities. Clarifying and confirming logistics of timelines and transportation needs for all off site locations.

Help coordinate department meetings, as needed, to ensure all staff are properly updated on policy, procedure and safety changes as well as daily goals, metrics and commitment to quality.

Coordinate the use of supplies and equipment by balancing inventory / supplies for all programs to ensure that weekly schedules meet program goals, to maintain the department budget.

Ensure that programs and activities are balanced and geared toward members’ ages, interests, and abilities by acquiring qualitative and quantitative data via surveys and testimonials from members and staff. Follow the Youth Program Quality Assessment outline for more structure and clarity.

Ensure that programs are geared toward current grant requirements and outcomes. Collecting necessary grant data from members and staff.

Assist with maintaining member databases to ensure accuracy in member information and attendance.

Facilitate fun and meaningful activities for members, modeling constructive and enthusiastic participation in all program areas.

Keep spreadsheets documenting which programs were attended by which youth as well as create / maintain all quarterly reports with appropriate deadlines and milestones.

As needed, cover / fill-in any open shifts due to vacation or sick leave.

Work with Branch Director to communicate with dormitory staff, when needed, regarding member behavior, engagement, or success.

Provide Secondary Site Support

Work with Native Services team as a cohesive unit to support the success of the organization by :

Maintaining standards of child safety

Promoting active teen participation in programs, including member recruitment

Working with teens, parents / guardians, BGCF staff and volunteers, and Dormitory staff as needed

Commitment to professional development by completing all assigned trainings

Assisting in regular facility maintenance, including but not limited to : cleaning, tidying, organizing and moving Club property

Checking in teens as they arrive at designated Club sites

Answering phone calls and greeting visitors, as needed

Required qualifications :

Knowledge and cultural awareness of local Native American tribe’s traditions and customs.

Minimum of one (1) years of managerial experience and supervising employees OR Any equivalent combination of experience and / or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.

Minimum of (1) years working with youth aged 5-18 in a professional setting OR Any equivalent combination of experience and / or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.

The ability to pass a drug test, criminal and driving records investigations, and reference checks.

Access to reliable transportation with a clean driving record.

The ability to have or obtain CPR / First Aid Certifications and Fingerprint Clearance and Food Handlers Card.

Desired qualifications :

Previous work or volunteer experience in a Boys and Girls Club or equivalent after-school program.

Required skills / abilities :

Have the ability to travel to all sites where youth programming is held.

Have knowledge of standard office practices and procedures.

Have intermediate knowledge of Google Suite and Microsoft Office.

Have the ability to organize local / community outreach events, including school recruitment presentations.

Have the ability to communicate the goals and objectives of the Native Services department.

Have the ability to withstand stress and handle multiple, concurrent tasks and constant interruptions.

Have the ability to interact / communicate at the peer to peer and director level.

Have ability to read and interpret documents, perform highly detailed work and mathematical functions.

Have ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and ability to develop, implement and manage multiple work projects.

Have the ability to relate to individuals and groups in a manner that will inspire respect and confidence.

Have commitment to continuous learning.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include depth perception. The employee is required to sit for periods of time to perform functions on the computer.

Work Environment :

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and / or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and extreme heat and cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
