Job Overview
The Boys & Girls Club of Henderson County is seeking a tech-savvy candidate with a passion for youth education to fulfill a full-time, in-person STEM Coordinator position at our Hendersonville facility. The STEM Coordinator will plan, manage, and implement a comprehensive STEM curriculum for K-12 that fits the style and culture of a Boys & Girls Club, especially by regularly teaching classes. By understanding the unique provision profile of our afterschool and summer programs, the STEM Coordinator will advance our educational content to improve our members’ STEM knowledge, promote school success, and create innovative programs that enable kids to excel. Additionally, the STEM Coordinator will be responsible for deliverables on funded projects, supporting improved educational content across disciplines, and assisting Unit Directors to manage programs across grades.
Responsibilities
- Continuously design and improve youth-empowering STEM programming.
- Be an excellent teacher with an ability to connect with young people about STEM content.
- Manage all aspects of the implementation of STEM programs from supplies management to class planning.
- Work with Unit Directors to incorporate STEM content in daily schedules. Oversee proper curriculum cadence over the course of the year.
- Train and support other staff on delivering STEM classes.
- Ensure program data, including attendance data, is properly recorded. Ensure continuity of progress towards the deliverables of funded projects.
- Improve educational outcomes for members, especially with respect to STEM grades.
- Deliver a variety of Boys & Girls Club content alongside STEM education.
- Drive Club vehicles to support our transportation routes and field trips.
- Assist with routine afterschool facility functions as necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline required. Professional teaching certification preferred.
- Experience in education or direct youth services demonstrating an ability to connect with young people from diverse backgrounds.
- Computer science and Raspberry Pi knowledge preferred.
- Passionate about youth education with a commitment to the Boys & Girls Club mission and values.
The STEM Coordinator position is funded by a Grant through 2027.
