Position Summary
PAGE seeks a STE(A)M Curriculum Coordinator to design and deliver engaging, hands-on STE(A)M programming for students in Asheville and Madison County. This role supports PAGE’s After School, Summer, and Mobile PAGE programs, working closely with our Leadership Team to meet educational goals.
This part-time position is ideal for someone passionate about inquiry-based learning, interdisciplinary STE(A)M education, and empowering youth in rural communities.
Responsibilities
- Summer Programming
- Design and implement a STE(A)M Lab during the June Session of the 2025 Summer Program
- Regular communication with Programs Director to ensure that the Lab fits within the budgetary, spatial, and time-constraints of the larger PAGE Programs
- Ensure that the Lab is appropriately designed for a multi-age cohort of students, with an emphasis on scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and engaging in dialogue using scientific concepts and discourse
- Develop a plan for STE(A)M lab deliverables such as illustrated field journals and journal articles
- Engage professional project facilitators who work in STE(A)M fields to aid in the design and implementation of the STE(A)M lab
- Include STE(A)M activities that are place-based and have real world applications
- Devise a plan to incorporate the involvement of 3-4 college interns as assistants and key participants in the STEAM Lab
- After School Programming
- Plan and implement interactive STE(A)M modules during the Fall and Spring After-School Programs based on the objectives of the lessons and needs of the After School calendar. These labs can be led by the project coordinator and/or by professionals who work in STE(A)M fields.
- Mobile PAGE
- Plan and implement STE(A)M activities and modules that fulfill the needs of our Mobile PAGE partners; this may include one-time “pop-up” workshops or more regular, sustained engagement (determined based on coordinator’s hours and availability and the needs of PAGE partners)
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the STE(A)M labs through end of session evaluations and by working in conjunction with our evaluation team
- Design lesson or Lab plans that include a written summary with goals, objectives, materials required, and supplies needed
- Work with Programs Director to learn the STE(A)M-budgets for each program; express materials and supply needs so the PD can purchase items in a timely manner
- Contribute to internal communication systems: especially the online orientation packet for College Interns and Summer Staff and the Google Doc calendar used for After-School Program planning and reflection
- Support PAGE’s Leadership Team in their STE(A)M-related communication needs, including answering questions related to grant-reporting for Executive Director and sharing lesson plans with Communications Specialist
- Participate in all staff meetings by outlining STE(A)M plans and sharing reflections/evaluations

Required Qualifications
- Experience working with youth in a science-related context
- Advanced training in a science-related field, with a Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Hours
- Hybrid Position: Onsite work will be required for programming while planning and communication will be remote
- 10 hours per week in active Program Season (September - mid-December; February - May)
- 35 hours per week in Summer during the STEAM Lab and college intern orientation (June, 2025)
Compensation
- $23 per hour up to 600 hours (or $13,800 annually)
- Position is guaranteed for one year and renewal is contingent upon funding
