POSITION SUMMARY:
The Vice President of Resource Development is a senior leadership role responsible for driving all fundraising and development efforts to support the mission and strategic goals of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Lowcountry. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this position leads the planning, coordination, and execution of resource development strategies, including major gifts, grants, corporate partnerships, special events, and donor stewardship. This role serves as a key collaborator with the Board of Directors, club leadership, and community stakeholders to build financial sustainability and amplify the organization’s impact.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership & Strategic Planning
- Develop and execute a comprehensive fund development plan to achieve revenue targets in alignment with organizational objectives.
- Collaborate with the CEO and Board of Directors to establish and meet long-term fundraising goals.
- Provide strategic direction to club staff to foster a culture of philanthropy and active participation in resource development efforts.
Donor Cultivation & Stewardship
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with major donors, corporate partners, and foundations to secure significant contributions.
- Oversee the creation and implementation of donor stewardship plans to retain and grow the donor base.
- Actively identify and solicit prospective donors, ensuring a robust pipeline for future giving opportunities.
Grant Management
- Lead the identification, writing, and submission of federal, state, and private grant proposals to secure additional funding streams.
- Monitor grant compliance and reporting to maintain strong relationships with funders.
Partnership Development
- Strengthen partnerships with local businesses, community organizations, and other stakeholders to support resource development efforts.
- Represent the organization at events, networking opportunities, and community forums to enhance visibility and build relationships.
Resource Management & Operations
- Ensure accurate tracking of donor data, pledges, and contributions within the donor management system.
- Prepare and present regular progress reports to the CEO, Board of Directors, and other stakeholders.
- Manage the resource development budget, ensuring efficient allocation of funds to achieve maximum impact.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, nonprofit management, communications, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in fundraising, resource development, or related fields.
- Proven success in securing major gifts, corporate partnerships, and grants.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong understanding of fundraising principles, donor cultivation, and stewardship best practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and presentation abilities.
- Proficiency in donor management systems (e.g., Razor’s Edge, Salesforce) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders, including high-net-worth individuals, corporations, and community leaders.
- Familiarity with the mission and operations of Boys & Girls Clubs is highly desirable.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Frequent local travel required to meet with donors and attend community events.
- Evening and weekend availability may be required for special events and meetings.
- Typical office environment with occasional outdoor events.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
- Occasional lifting of materials up to 25 pounds.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise and mentor resource development staff to achieve department goals.
- Provide leadership and training to club staff involved in fundraising and donor relations efforts.
