At Boys & Girls Clubs of Hilton Head Island, we are a leader in youth development, providing a safe, affordable place for kids and teens during critical out-of-school time (after school and summer). Our Clubs offer life-changing programs and services to approximately 300 local youth.

Position Summary:
This youth development position is responsible for providing engaging programming to youths/pre-teens in grades 6-8/middle school/ high school. This is a part-time position during the school year (2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.) with the opportunity for as many as 40 hours per week during the summer.
Responsibilities
- Support members in the areas of academic achievement, career, college planning, and personal and social development.
- Mentor and guide members—individually or in small groups—by developing academic, career, and personal goals that prepare them for success in life.
- Promotes and stimulates program participation among members
- Supervise Club spaces to ensure the safety of all members. Spaces may include teen center, leadership center, gymnasium, outdoor recreation areas and/or other Club spaces.
- Identify, address, and set consequences for negative behaviors of members.
- Plan and put on enriching and educational activities and games in a variety of Club spaces with a focus on members.
- Engage members in a positive manner while supervising, putting on programs, and running activities.
- Provide a mentoring relationship with members who need it.
- Assist in planning Club events, theme days, and other related special events/days.
- Assist in set-up and clean-up of Club spaces.
- Assist in other tasks that may come up on a day-to-day basis
- May be required to participate in certain club-wide events
- May be required to drive Club van or other Club vehicle
- Effectively completes assessments of programs and program participants using a variety of formal and informal assessment tools
- Works effectively with supervisor, other staff, members, parents, and community leaders and organizations to provide exemplary services to youth
Qualifications
- High school diploma required
- College graduate or matriculating college students preferred
- Minimum of one year experience working with children/teens in a group setting
- Enthusiasm and patience working with children and passion about education, health, character development and leadership
- Must be a team player and a self-starter
- Ability to work well with diverse populations
- A high degree of independence, flexibility, self-motivation, and creativity
- Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications (may be obtained within 30 days of employment)
- Ability to organize and supervise youth/teens in a safe environment
- Bi-lingual a plus (English/Spanish)
Hourly Rate
$15-$17 per hour
Notes:
- Must pass background check and drug screening
- Must possess valid driver’s license and be in good standing with the Division of Motor Vehicle
HOURS: Monday – Friday (2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.); occasional Saturdays

This position works both indoors and outdoors (weather permitting) and moderate physical activities may be required. Due to the fact that the facility serves children and teens, the noise level in the work environment is moderate.
Salary : $15 - $17
