Job Description
Gates Camp is owned and operated by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver (BGCMD). Gates Camp opened in 1974 and is located west of Boulder, Colorado. Campers range in age from 6 to 18 years and are primarily from communities in the Metro Denver area. Gates Camp offers traditional camp activities that include archery, kayaking, handicrafts, nature games, hiking, team-building, and campfire programs.
For Summer 2025, Gates Camp will operate as a day camp most Tuesdays through Thursdays with 1 Friday in June (date TBD) and 1 in July (date TBD).
The successful candidate is part of a team-oriented Camp Staff dedicated to serving our youth and creating an optimal Camp Experience. The Program Lead will assist in all camp operations, and plan, supervise and implement a variety of high-yield activities and targeted programs with an outdoor education focus.
This position's primary responsibilities are:
- Assisting in all Gates Camp operations, including, but not limited to, developing and monitoring schedules, and instituting instructional methodologies that ensure high-quality program implementation.
- Teaching and leading outdoor, recreational and educational activities; providing direct service to youth.
- Assisting in training, supervising, and evaluating Camp Staff.
- Working in concert with the Camp Manager and BGCMD Club Directors.
- Collaborating with the entire Camp Staff (Onsite Healthcare Professional, Cook, Bus Driver, Activity Leaders).
- Managing conflict situations, that involve youth and/or Program Staff, appropriately; facilitating resolutions and/or providing disciplinary action if necessary.
- Maintaining a healthy and safe environment for Campers and Programs Staff.
- Completing and filing various forms of paperwork.
- Adhering to and maintaining Camp/BGCMD policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Performing all other duties as assigned by the Camp Manager.
This is a seasonal position with approximate start and end dates of May 27, 2025 through July 25, 2025.
