About BGCH
The mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Hawaii is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. The after-school hours have become a critical time for youth – a time when many children in our communities are left to fend for themselves without positive adult supervision. We provide a safe place filled with hope and opportunity, ongoing relationships with caring adult mentors, and enriching programs.
Overview of the Role
The IT Director will manage and administer BGCH information systems and data functions. This includes the identification, implementation, configuration, testing and maintenance of computer hardware, software and networking elements. The IT Director will provide ongoing support for the BGCH Local Area Network (LAN) both at the agency level as well as the Clubhouse level.
Who You Are
· On your resume: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in computer science, information technology or a closely related field.
· Three years of paid experience working with business information networks, software and computing technology, including desktop computers, laptops and tablets.
Experience with Blackbaud: Razors Edge/Financial Edge and Microsoft software products. Has knowledge of desktop computers, networking, servers, related software and web applications.
· Have a diverse background in the following systems:
o VMWare ESXi
o Windows Server 2019
o Microsoft Active Directory
o Google WorkSpace
o OSTicket
o Salesforce
o Microsoft PowerShell
o Basic video editing software
o Basic remote support software
· Prefer experience working within a non-profit enterprise.
· Related work experience at a responsible level may substitute for education on a year for year basis.
· Possess a strong technical background in IT infrastructure, networking, and security.
· Understand and apply IT best practices and standards.
· Strong project management, administrative and organizational skills.
· Strong customer service orientation with demonstrated success in providing user support services and delivering user training.
· Ability to work with people of diverse ethnic backgrounds and different levels of education and socio‑economic status.
· Ability to write clear, concise and effective reports, letters, etc.
· Ability to operate a personal computer, using word processing, spreadsheet, and database management.
· Ability to work for prolonged periods of time at high levels of activity, managing multiple tasks with varying deadlines.
· Possess a valid State of Hawaii driver's license, current no-fault car insurance and have daily access to a car.
· Able to work flexible days and hours.
What You’ll Do
Leadership
· Establish and implement policies and procedures for the effective management of BGCH information systems and equipment.
· Define technical and installation standards for computer equipment, software applications and Local Area Networks.
Strategic Planning
· Develop and implement IT strategies that align with BGCH’s overall business objectives.
· Contribute to operational Strategic planning by identifying and recommending new technologies and solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
· Identify and evaluate opportunities to improve Club information systems or interface with BGCA systems.
· Assess ongoing end user training and support needs and develop plans to enhance user skills and systems support capabilities.
· Stay up-to-date with the latest IT trends and technologies.
IT Operations and Resource Management
· Create and oversee IT budget and ensure its effective allocation.
· Control equipment, service and software expenditures against budget. Develop proactive strategies for optimizing system performance and minimizing downtime.
· Recruit, select, manage and evaluate IT volunteers, staff and contractors. Provide ongoing feedback and identify and support development opportunities.
· Manage administrative and operational systems for technology use. Prepare and maintain systems documentation and user manual.
· Continuously develop knowledge of best practices to address BGCH information needs and upgrade system capabilities.
· Support end user technology skills development delivering training within budget limits.
· Manage IT projects, from planning and execution to completion.
· Oversee IT security and data protection.
· Manage relationship with IT vendors and service providers.
Partnership Development
· Develop collaborative partnerships with other Boys & Girls Clubs, consultants and vendors and other not-for-profit organizations to establish professional links with other systems professionals in the community.
Communication, Collaboration & Relationships
· Communicate IT issues and solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
· Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club Staff (professional & Volunteer), Club Members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.
· Collaborate with other departments to understand their technology needs and ensure that IT solutions meet those needs.
· Serve as a bridge between the IT department and the rest of the organization.
· External: Maintain contact with other Clubs, vendors, consultants, organizations and others to achieve program goals and objectives, manage costs, share information and resolve problems.
