Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Director of Development to join our Resource Development team. The Director of Development will play a crucial role in strengthening organizational capacity to achieve our Club's mission through planning and execution of resource development strategies, maintaining and expanding relationships with individual donors and corporate partners, increasing awareness of the Club's mission and impact and monitoring progress towards goals.
The ideal candidate values people relationships and understands the importance of partnerships in order to support families. This individual will lead project management, assists and supports our public relations and marketing, maintain excellent communication and have a passion for making a difference in the our community. This position works closely with our Assistant Executive Director, CEO and Board of Directors to cultivate and steward our donors, corporations, foundations and government agencies.
The ideal candidate will also generate fundraising income through campaigns targeting foundations, corporations, civic groups and individual donors within the community.
Key Roles:
- Work with Assistant Executive Director, CEO and Resource Development Committee to develop and execute a comprehensive resource development plan to bring in revenue from individual donors, corporations, foundations, government, events and planned gifts.
- Work with the Assistant Executive Director and CEO in the annual budget development and implement strategies to meet and exceed budget goals, with an emphasis on individual giving.
- Direct efforts to design a program to identify, cultivate and solicit major individual, corporate and foundation prospects.
- Develop and effectively communicate a compelling Case for Support, Club Impact reports and other donor engagement pieces to drive Club support.
- Coordinate appeal letters, thank you letters and Club information correspondence to donors and supporters.
- Coordinate and supervise Club fundraising events.
- Write grant proposals for foundation and corporate support and manage grant portfolio to ensure timely submittal of grant applications, reports and cultivation/engagement/recognition of corporate and foundation donors.
- Manage donor database to track fundraising income, compile reports and utilize for cultivation, solicitation and recognition of donors.
- Manage stewardship plan including donor recognition strategies and events.
- Work with the Assistant Executive Director, CEO and Resource Development Chair to ensure consistent and meaningful committee meetings.
Relationships:
- Internal: Maintain close, regular contact with Assistant Executive Director and CEO. Maintain contact with Board of Directors, Advisory Committee members and fundraising volunteers as directed.
- External: Develop and cultivate relationships with current and potential donors, corporations and businesses in the community, and professional & community groups.
Skills/Knowledge Required:
- Five plus years of resource and business development experience in areas of donor relations, major gifts solicitation, grant writing, capital and major gifts campaigns.
- Community engagement and marketing expertise.
- Familiarity with data collection and analysis techniques
- Knowledge of wills, trusts, and estate law is a plus
- Proven ability to raise substantial sums of money and meeting agreed upon financial targets.
- Demonstrated ability to mange budgets and control fundraising expenses.
- Willingness to be part of a team, work well with others and positively represent the Club in the community.
- Excellent written, verbal and technological communication skills.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities
- Proficiency in strategic planning and relationship management
- Strong budgeting and computer skills, including knowledge of database operations and spreadsheet software.
